Legendary Nigerian footballer, Chief Segun Odegbami, Super Eagles stars-Victor Osimhen, Calvin Bassey- and Super Falcons striker, Asisat Oshoala were among the winners at the 2022 Ballers’ awards.
The fourth edition of Ballers’ awards was held on Sunday, June 12, at Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.
Several stakeholders in Nigerian sports were present as footballers and journalists were recognised for their achievements over the last one year.
After an outstanding season with Napoli, Super Eagles forward, Victor Osimhen won both Forward of the Year and Baller of the Year for male.
FC Barcelona Femení star, Asisat Oshoala, was the received both the Fans’ Favourite Baller and Female Baller of the Year awards.
Chief Segun Odegbami received the Legendary Baller award, Zaidu Sanusi won the Best Defender of the Year while Calvin Bassey picked the Revelation of the Year award.
Newly married Genk striker, Paul Onuachu was awarded Super Eagles Goal of the Year; Goalkeeper of the Year went to Maduka Okoye, while Joe Aribo was awarded Midfielder of the Year.
Esperance of Tunisia forward, Anayo Iwuala, was awarded Best Local Based Player, while Kennedy Boboye was voted Coach of the Year.
Super Eagles captain, Ahmed Musa won Humanitarian of the Year Award; and Ajani Waheed went home with the Most Promising Baller award.
Dignitaries at the award include, Chairman of Lagos State Sports Commission, Sola Aiyepekun; Niger Football Federation (NFF) first Vice President, Barrister Seyi Akinwunmi and Odegbami.
Some personalities that presented the awards include Big Brother Naija Lockdown Housemate, Ozoemena Chukwu, renowned sport presenters, Deji Omotoyinbo, Charles Anazodo, and Mozez Praiz.
