The governing council of Oke Ogun Polytechnic in Oyo state has suspended the rector of the institution, Mr. Mathew Oladeji and some principal officers in the institution over alleged gross misconducts.
The suspension order was contained in a memo signed by the council’s chairman, Prof. Moshood Tijani.
The council, in a letter sent to Governor Abiola Ajimobi through the Commissioner for Education, Prof Adeniyi Olowofela, noted that the affected officers had been queried in respect of “series of allegations of fraudulent practices and gross misconduct.”
It was gathered that the governing council had earlier constituted a five–man investigation panel at one of its meetings to give the concerned officers fair hearing.
The committee’s report, a copy of which was cited by Daily Trust, read: “in line with the disciplinary procedure of the Institution as highlighted in the Institution’s Edict; Part 8, Sub-section 28 (3 &4), Mr M. Oladeji led substantive management (i.e. the Principal Officers) have been placed on suspension pending the final determination of the investigation”.
But, reacting to the suspension order, Oladeji in a telephone chat with the newspaper, said he had not received any suspension letter, adding that he was on leave.
