The former Secretary to Government of the Federation, Olu Falae, who was kidnapped on Monday by Fulani herdsmen regained his freedom on Thursday. He revealed that they made him trek 30km from Ilado where he was taken, to Owo.
He also said he was made to sleep in the bush for three days as the kidnappers changed their locations every four hours.
Chief Falae narrated his ordeal to Ondo state Governor, Olusegun Mimiko, who paid him a visit at his residence in Obaile.
“We can’t say if any ransom was paid for his release. According to Baba, when he told the kidnappers that his family only had N2million, they asked him if he thought the amount was enough for Boko Haram.”, Premium Times quoted a a family source, who said he was present when Falae explained his ordeal, as saying.
President Muhammadu Buhari had on Wednesday directed the Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase, to ensure the rescue of the former minister.
And Arase has said that no ransom was paid for Falae’s release, adding that policemen had been making effort to rescue the former minister since Monday.
