Akinwande Soji-Ojo
The Olubadan of Ibadan land, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, Ige Olakulehin I, has appointed a former chairman of the Oyo State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Olugbemiga Ayoade, as Chief Press Secretary.
His appointment was conveyed in a letter dated August 29, 2024, signed by Prince Olasunmbo Owolabi Olakulehin on behalf of the monarch.
Born into the Taiwo Ariyibi Dynasty of E8/215, Eleruko compound, Oke Ofa Baba Isale, Ibadan, Ayoade holds a Diploma in Mass Communication from The Polythechnic, Ibadan, Bachelor’s degree in Cultural Anthropology (1989) and a Master’s in Sociology (1995) from the University of Ibadan. He served meritoriously and retired from the Oyo State Civil Service as Director, Public Enlightenment and Mass Mobilisation, in the Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism.
As a core professional, Ayoade has held several key positions in the Nigeria Union of Journalists including Financial Secretary, Ministry of Information NUJ Chapel, Treasurer, Vice Chairman and Chairman of the Oyo State NUJ Council.
At the national level, he served as a member of the 7-man committee on insurance policy for journalists in Nigeria. He is the current chairman of Ethics and Disciplinary Committee of NUJ in Oyo State.
Oba Olakulehin charged the newly appointed spokesperson to advance the unity and progress of Ibadan land in his new role.
