The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Adetunji, on Friday, promoted a former Commissioner for Environment in Oyo State, Chief Lowo Obisesan, to the status of Aare Ago Balogun of Ibadanland.
Obisesan’s promotion from the Gbonnka Olubadan was celebrated at the Popoyemoja palace of the Olubadan.
Others promoted are Chief Sarafadeen Alli, from Asaju Balogun to Ekefa Balogun; Chief Owoade Jibowu, from Aare Alasa Balogun to Abese Balogun; Chief Akeem Adewoyin, from Ikolaba Balogun to Maye Balogun; Chief Samuel Adeniran, from Ayingun Balogun to Agbaakin Balogun.
Also, Chief Adebayo Oyekan, from Aare Ago Balogun to Aare Alasa Balogun; Chief Raufu Eleruwere, from Lagunna Balogun to Ikolaba Balogun; Chief Emiola Onideure, from Oota Balogun to Asaju Balogun and Chief Busari Adebisi, from Are egbe omo Balogun to Ayingun Balogun.
Speaking, Olubadan commended the newly promoted high chiefs for their contributions to the development of Ibadanland and urged them to do more for the progress of the city.
Reacting, Obisesan described his new chieftaincy title as a motivation to do more for the people of Ibadan and Oyo State in general.
He commended Olubadan for maintaining peace within the city’s traditional institution.
“Our father, my father, the Olubadan of Ibadanland has proved that despite intimidation, it is possible to maintain integrity. With this new task, I want to assure him that we shall continue to support the development of Ibadanland and the state in general,” he added.
