The Senator representing Osun West district in the National Assembly, Adelere Oriolowo, has has said that the fear being expressed in some quarters that the defection of Senator Iyiola Omisore into the All Progressives Congress(APC) will threaten the party’s unity are unfounded.
Omisore, who is the candidate of the Social Democratic Party in the 2018 governorship election, recently joined the APC.
However, his defection has reportedly renewed the hostilities between the state governor, Adegboyega Oyetola and Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola.
But speaking with journalists in Abuja on Thursday, Oriolowo, described Omisore’s entry into the APC as a welcome development.
He said: “Rather than being anxious, party leaders and members in the state should see Omisore’s defection as a welcome idea and team up with such a fantastic politician to achieve the goals and objectives of the party. His defection cannot threaten the unity of the party in the state.”
