The Association of Online Media Practitioners of Nigeria, (OMPAN) Oyo state chapter, has commended the Independent National Electoral Commissiom (INEC), security agencies and other stakeholders for the successful conduct of 2019 election.
The group, in a statement signed by its state chairman, Mr. Remi Oladoye and made available to journalists by its PRO, Dare Adeniran, also congratulated the governor-elect, Engr. Seyi Makinde; his deputy, Engr. Femi Olaniyan as well as all the elected federal and state lawmakers, on their elections.
OMPAN appealed to politicians not to encourage any form of violence that may disturb relative peace in the state. It implored the police and other concerned agencies not to spare anyone inciting or trying to incite violence, no matter how highly placed.”
The association went further to advise Governor-elect, Makinde, to learn from the mistakes of his predecessor and make necessary amendments in order to make his tenure a remarkable one. It charged him to ensure good governance, balanced appointments and equitable distribution of projects across rural and urban areas in the state.
“Your consistency and advocacy for a better society through your philanthropic gestures and support for the less-privileged in your immediate environment gave you an edge over others in the just concluded guber election. We therefore implore you to use your new position to do more, by developing the people and the state. And at the same time be conscious of the need to make people the central focus of your administration, in order not to betray the confidence reposed in you by the electorate,” the statement concluded.
