There have been reports that the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi has picked a new bride. Online reports say the king’s new love is Princess Ronke Ademiluyi, founder of Africa Fashion Week London (AFWL) and Africa Fashion Week Nigeria (AFWN).
The Ife princess, a Law graduate, is a UK based fashion practitioner.
Although as an African monarch, Oba Ogunwusi is at liberty to marry as many wives as he deems fit, rumours have it that all have not been well between him and his incumbent queen, Olori Adebisi Adebukunola.
But to confirm reports of the rumoured marriage between Princess Ronke and the Ooni, Newspeakonline contacted family sources who laughed off the report.
A family member close to the monarch told our correspondent that they have seen the report but pointed out that there was nothing like that. The source said the planned marriage was a figment of the imaginations of the writers of the stories making the rounds.
The source added that the monarch and the princess were just friends who enjoy a cordial business relationship, and were not planning to get married.
It would be recalled that in the build up to Oba Ogunwusi’s coronation as the 51st Ooni of Ife, it took a while before Olori Adebukunola was revealed, a development which prompted rumours that there was no love lost between the royal couple, and that the king may pick a new wife immediately after his inauguration.
