The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has confirmed Senator Ademola Adeleke as the People Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the July 16 governorship election in Osun State.
Adeleke was named as the PDP candidate in the final list of governorship candidates released by INEC, on Friday.
With the development, the controversy over who the authentic PDP candidate in Osun State is over. Prince Dotun Babayemi had challenged Adeleke for the ticket.
INEC also confirmed the incumbent state governor, Adegboyega Oyetola as the candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC).
Those listed by INEC include Omigbodun Oyegoke, Social Democratic Party (SDP); Abede Adetona Samuel, National Rescue Mission(NRM); Oyelekan Akingbade, Labour Party (LP); Adebayo Adeolu Elisha, Action Peoples Party (APP); Awoyemi Oluwatayo, Allied Peoples Movement (APM); and Awojide Peter Segun, African Action Congress(AAC).
Others are Akande Victor Babalola, Accord Party (AP) Adesuyi John Olufemi, Zenith Labour Party( ZLP); Kehinde Munirudeen Atanda, Action Democratic Party (ADP); Ademola Bayonle Adeseye, Young Progressives Party(YPP); Ayowole Olubusuyi Adedeji, Peoples Redemption Party (PRP); Saliu Rasak Oyelami,New Nigería Peoples Party (NNPP) and Adeleke Adesoji Masilo Aderemi, Boot Party (BP).
The electoral body disqualified three parties Action Alliance (AA), All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), and African Democratic Congress (ADC) for not meeting the guidelines for the exercise.
