The All Progressives Congress (APC) party chairmen in Osun State on Tuesday disowned the 10 years anniversary celebration of progressive governance in the state purportedly being planned by the former governor of the state, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola.

The programme which was slated for November 27, 2020, coincides with the second year anniversary of the incumbent governor, Adegboyega Oyetola.

A statement made available to newsmen by the party’s spokesperson, Barrister Kunle Oyatomi, said that the Forum of APC Local Government Party Chairmen and Forum of APC Ward Chairmen in the state of have distanced themselves from the celebration.

The forum noted that an attempt by a group of disgruntled personalities who are determined to disrupt the peaceful atmosphere in the state will fail.

According to the Chairmen: “The purported celebration of the progressive governance in the state can only be celebrated by the party whose leader is the sitting governor and who, in this case, is, His Excellency, Alh. (Dr). Ishiak Adegboyega Oyetola and the state chairman of the party in the person of Prince Gboyega Famodun.”

“You will recall that progressive governance in the state did not start 10 years ago as being speculated in certain quarters. It started in the year 1999 led by His Excellency, Alh Chief (Dr.) Abdulkareem Adebisi Bamidele Akande before it was interrupted by the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) in the year 2003.

“The progressives only took back the mantle of governance in Osun State in the year 2010 with the support of the former Governor Bisi Akande, and all the former senators; members of the House of Representatives; members of the State Assembly; Local Government Chairmen; Councillors and all members of the progressives family.

“It smacks of sheer arrogance and utter disrespect to the state’s constituted authorities by a self-seeking person to want to celebrate a decade of progressive governance without the inputs of our revered leaders. Progressive governance in the state is a collective responsibility of all and not an individual.

“Therefore, as progressive-minded and loyal party members, all APC local government party chairmen and ward chairmen in the state express our unalloyed and untainted support for the second anniversary of good governance led by His Excellency, Alh (Dr.) Gboyega Oyetola,” the chairmen stated.
