There was drama on Twitter on Saturday as the Peoples Democratic Party and tge All Progressives Party passed two suspects caught in vote buying attempts during the Osun state governorship election to each other.
The suspects pictured above were said to be PDP agents according to initial reports. They were identified as Muriat Olalekan, 61, and Hamzat Muniru, 65.
The APC on its Twitter handle, published the picture, saying: PDP agents arsted with N604,000 in Iwo by special police team”
But in a dramatic twist, the PDP Twitter handle posted the same picture describing the suspects as the Financial Secretary and Treasurer of the APC in Iwo.
The police on the other hand, maintained neutrality, tweeting:
Another picture of the suspects which would have cleared the confusion, ended up creating more confusion.
The same individuals were seen carrying a bag with a PDP logo on it, with the following words inscribed on it: SENATOR ISIAKA ADELEKE FREE RICE.
The late Senator Isiaka Adeleke is elder brother to Senator Ademola Adeleke, the governorship candidate of the PDP in today’s election.
While APC apologists quickly sold it as proof that the suspects were PDP members, PDP apologists wondered why the bag bore Isiaka Adeleke who was even a senator under the APC. Although Isiaka, Ademola’s elder brother, was a member of the PDP before decamping to the APC under which he contested and won the senate seat.
