Following the suspected case of coronavirus recorded in neighbouring Ekiti State, Osun State government is considering closing down religious and recreational centers in the state.
The government has also issued a circular mandating infrared thermometer for all shopping malls and recreational centers across the state.
The Special Adviser to Governor Gboyega Oyetola on Public health, Dr. Siji Olamiju stated this on Wednesday.
Olamiju said the government has identified 12 borders in the state and has put in place necessary measures to safeguard them.
He also noted that the government is considering closing down religious centers in the state and any other gathering that harbor more than 50 people.
His words; “We had border monitoring as a backup measure before this time but we haven’t started it with all strength considering the fact that we are yet to record such around us, now that we have suspected case of coronavirus in Ekiti State, there is no going back again we start in full.
“We have identified 12 borders in Osun State and we are not wasting time again. We would ensure that every person entering this State is screen and clean.”
“Recently, they recorded 51 new cases of Lassa fever in Edo and Ondo, meaning that Lassa fever has not gone before this more deadly Coronavirus. We are not resting to prevent all this disease to spread in our state. If it demand to lock down the churches, mosques, religious center, were people gather more than 50 in Osun State, Governor Oyetola will do it to ensure that nobody contract any deadly disease.
” After the Executives meeting on Monday, a committee was set up on coronavirus and they are to sensitize people of the state on the virus.”
