The Chairman of Social Democratic Party(SDP) in Osun State, Dr. Bayo Faforiji has resigned from his position as chairman and member of the party.
According to information gathered, Faforiji, who led the SDP to the 2018 governorship poll, when Senator Iyiola Omisore ran as the candidate of the party, had been at loggerheads with some stakeholders in the party.
In a letter of resignation addressed to the national chairman of the party and dated October 2, he said the current situation in the party in the state and at the national level has left him with no other choice than to step aside.
The statement read in part, “I have come to realise that the requirements of my office as chairman and member of the party in the current circumstances are at variance with the values I believe in, and I wish to protect them as long as God gives me sustenance.”
