Cross River State Governor, Bassey Otu, has appointed the paramount ruler of Abi Local Government Area of the state, His Royal Majesty Ovai Osim Edward (JP), as the state chairman of council of chiefs.
Recall that the governor had last week dissolved the leadership of the council of chiefs in the state.
A statement by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Prof. Anthony Owan-Enoh, on Friday, said the Edward’s appointment is for a term of two years, effective from June 21, 2024.
“His Excellency, the Governor, Bassey Edet Otu, in excercise of the power vested on him by Section 3 of the Council of Chiefs Law, Cap C15 Laws of Cross River State 2004, has approved the appointment of His Royal Majesty Ovai Solomon Osim Edward, JP, Paramount Ruler of Abi Local Government Area, as Chairman, State Council of Chiefs.
“The appointment of His Royal Majesty Ovai Osim Edward is for a term of two years effective from June 21, 2024,” the statement read.
