Oyo State Health Insurance Agency (OYSHIA) has disclosed that its target is to enroll every resident of state in the health insurance scheme.
The Executive Secretary of the agency, Dr Sola Akande, stated this while speaking on a recent radio programme.
“Our target is to enroll every resident of Oyo State and we are moving towards that. More groups keep coming to make enquiries and some groups have already enrolled on the scheme,” he said.
He also revealed that the agency had a meeting with pensioners from the West Africa Examinations Council (WAEC), stressing that they have also promised to register into the insurance scheme.
Akande further explained that the community based health insurance initiative is an added advantage to the community.
“We want each community to enroll, gather, mobilise minimum of 2500 lives in their community, and each member of the community will pay N4000 instead of N8000,” he said.
The executive secretary noted that the first round of registration for the basic health care provision has just been completed.
Akande added that the second round of registration will begin after the official flag off of the scheme, stressing that the target of the agency was to enroll 45,000 people through the basic health care initiative
