The governorship candidate of the Alliance for Democracy (AD) in Oyo State, Engr. Oyedele Hakeem Alao on Monday said he has not entered an alliance with the Peoples Democracy Party(PDP) governorship candidate, Engr. Seyi Makinde, as being reported.
Alao stated this while reacting to media reports quoting the governorship candidate of Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the state, Chief Bolaji Ayorinde (SAN) as saying that the SDP and AD had entered into an alliance with PDP ahead of the March 9 governorship election.
“Such claims could only have existed in the wildest imagination of the learned silk,” Alao said.
“Why did he not limit his adoption to those other political parties that had been holding nocturnal meetings in the last few days for the purpose of ganging up against their perceived enemy”.
The AD candidate asked his supporters across the state to discountenance “the wicked and malicious claim,” adding that he had not attended any meeting with any other political party for the purpose of trading off his party’s mandate in this governorship election and that would be the last thing he will do.
Alao said everything needed to be done to contest and the win the governorship election on Saturday has been done, emphasising that he would not leave any stone unturned to ensure victory for his party at the poll.
According to him, “even, when our erstwhile caretaker chairman and his co-political jobbers, out of greed and betrayal were said to have entered into an unholy alliance with the gubernatorial candidate of another political party, we vehemently opposed and denounced it.
“For the avoidance of doubt, we want to restate it publicly that we are not political traders or political playboys, who came into politics either to swindle the people or just for our name to be mentioned. We came with a mission to rescue the people of our dear Oyo State from economic and political vipers and vultures, whose activities had held our people in social, economic and political bondage over the years”, he stated.
