The Oyo State governorship candidate of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) in the forthcoming general election, Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala, on Monday made a special promise to the people of Ibarapa zone of the state.
He spoke at the palace of the Onidere of Idere land, Oba Onikola Oyelami, during a courtesy call on the monarch in continuation of his campaign round the state which took him to Ibarapa Central Local Government area.
Alao-Akala reminded the people that he fulfilled all his election promise to the zone in his first tenure between 2011 and 2015. He promised to do even more if returned voted as governor again.
His words: “Don’t vote for people who will abandon you again after taking your votes. I am not like them; remember that in my first term, I asked what you wanted during campaign, you said you wanted higher institution of learning, that was why we brought the College of Agriculture to Igboora.
“When I started the Ofiki bridge here in Idere, most people didn’t believe it will be completed but they can now say that we don’t make false promises. We will ensure all the communities they abandoned also enjoy the dividend of democracy, we will make life easier for all and send hunger away from people.
“They are systematically monetising education but we will ensure all education is absolutely free for our children. Those that were contesting against us were with us before they betrayed us. If you vote for them, they will betray and abandon you again. We know what we did for this community when we were there, what did they do for Idere since they assumed power.
“We will not be far from you, we will be a listening government and not one that will become an emperor after getting your votes.”
In his response, Oba Onikola prayed for the ADP candidate and urged him not to forget his campaign promises to the people if he eventually emerged victorious in the March 2 election.
