The Oke-Ogun area in Oyo state may soon present a consensus candidate for the 2019 governorship election just as they continue to agitate that the number one seat be zoned to the area.
The Deputy Governor of the State, Chief Moses Alake Adeyemo, is one of the governorship aspirants from the area.
Speaking at the weekend on Political Circuit, a political programme on Ibadan-based Fresh FM, disclosed that leaders in the area were holding regular meetings with the aspirants among whom are Communication Minister, Adebayo Shittu, Commissioner for Lands, Ajiboye Omodewu, Prof. Adeolu Akande and Engr Aderemi Olaniyan, all of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
“A candidate will soon be presented among the aspirants. That’s what we are working out already but I will not tell you how the candidate will emerge. Just expect our candidate soon”, he said.
The Deputy Governor however stressed that he would support any aspirant chosen by leaders of the area, if he is not chosen. He stressed that the interest of the area is more important than his personal ambition to be governor.
