Oyo state governorship aspirant on the platform of Africa Democratic Congress (ADC), Engr Raufu Aderemi Olaniyan, on Monday expressed confidence in clinching the party’s governorship ticket for the 2019 elections.
Speaking to journalist at the temporary secretariat of the party in Ibadan where he had gone to obtain the ADC nomination form, Olaniyan stated that he is the most qualified aspirant on the party’s platform.
Olaniyan, a fellow of the Nigeria Society of Engineers (NSE), pointed out that having served in the Oyo state civil service for 26 years and retiring as a permanent secretary, he has paid his dues and gathered enough experience. He noted that he understands the needs of the people and would use that understanding to run a government with a human face if elected in 2019.
The Igboho born politician said he had gone through difficult times, and so, appreciates the sufferings of the people. According to him, a man who has never gone through hard times would not be able to empathize with people going through hardships.
The former Oyo state Road Maintenance Agency boss assured that an ADC administration with him at the helms of affairs, will put smiles on the faces of the people of Oyo state and reclaim the state’s “Pacesetter” status.
The governorship hopeful was accompanied to the ADC secretariat by hundreds of his supporters, drawn from all the zones in the state.
Thanking the crowd of supporters, Olaniyan assured them of victory at the primaries and urged them to give their best to the growth, stability and success of the party.
