Governorship aspirant under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Engr Seyi Makinde has primised to be “a worthy ambassador”, asking the umbrella body of Ibadan indigenes’ associations, the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII), to “send me on an errand to remake Ibadan and Oyo State”.
According to the cordinatir, Strategy and Communication of Seyi Makinde campaign organisation, Prince Dotun Oyelade, Makinde made the request when he recently received the ‘Most Patriotic Ibadan Indigene’ award from the CCII.
Oyelade, in the statement said very few recognition could match the honour because charity begins at home and “for credible elders and leaders from Ibadan land to count him worthy, he has submitted himself to their collective wisdom and challenged them to send him on errand as he promised to be a worthy ambassador”.
Engr Seyi Makinde was quoted as saying Oyo state people need to remain steadfast because “weeping may last till night but joy cometh in the morning”
The event which took place at the Liberty Stadium Ibadan was witnessed by a host of dignitaries.
While presenting the award, foremost industrialist and former Minister of Industry, Chief Mrs Onikepo Akande described Engr Makinde as a great achiever and unequal philanthropist with unbelievable humility. She described the award as well deserved.
