The Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON), Oyo State Chapter, on Thursday urged the new leadership of the National Assembly to ensure the stability and unity of the country.
The association stated this in a congratulatory message to the new leadership of the National Assembly and the Oyo State House of Assembly.
ALGON in a statement signed by its Chairman and Secretary, Prince Ayodeji Abass-Aleshinloye and Pastor Jesutoye Oluyinka respectively, advised the leadership of the National Assembly to work hard to deepen democracy in the country and also ensure that Nigerians all over the country enjoy the dividends of democracy.
The Chairmen congratulated Rt. Hon. Debo Ogundoyin on his emergence as the speaker of Oyo State House of Assembly. They urged the leadership of the Assembly to guarantee the independence of the legislative arm of government in accordance with democratic principles and ensure the rights of citizens are well protected.
The Association also congratulated all the National Assembly members from the state as well as members of the State House of Assembly on their inauguration, adding that “ we hope your tenure will bring greater development to our constituencies in Oyo State, Federal Republic of Nigeria and a fresh re-engineering to the Hallowed Chambers.”
