The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State has condemned the killing of Philip Shekwo, the party’s chairman in Nasarawa State.
A statement signed on Sunday by the state Publicity Secretary, Dr. AbdulAzeez Olatunde, said when the news initially broke that Shekwo was kidnapped, the first reaction was that it is one of those that the gangs would be negotiating for ransome.
He, however, said the news of the eventual death of Shekwo on Sunday “got to us in APC Oyo State like a thunderbolt.”
“To say that the kidnapping and killing is a heartless and cowardly act is an understatement.
“We hope that the government and security agencies will unravel the perpetrators of this murderous act.
“We commiserate with the government and people of Nasarawa State on the untimely loss of the APC Chairman as well as the immediate family of Mr Philip Shekwo, and pray for the repose of the soul of the deceased,” the statement concluded.
