The All Progressives Congress(APC) in Oyo State has congratulated the Minister of Youth and Sports development, Mr Sunday Dare, on his installation as the Agbaakin of Ogbomoso land.
A statement on Friday by the Caretaker Publicity Secretary of the party, Dr AbdulAzeez Olatunde, said the recognition of Dare by the from Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Jimoh Oyewumi, is a worthwhile and deserved one, considering the various contribution of the minister to the town.
“It is on record that Honourable Minister for Youth and Sports facilitated the release of take-off grant for the newly approved Federal Polytechnic, Ayede, Ogbomoso and the subsequent personal donation of 18-seater bus to the institution.
“The renovation of Soun stadium in Ogbomoso to the standard requirement of the Football governing body, NFF, to enable Crown FC to have a befitting home ground to host and honour its NNL matches.
“Furthermore, in an attempt to curb unemployment, the training of 200 youth on vocational skills and their empowerment to be self-employed and also assist others earn a living,is a laudable feat.
“Likewise, the donation of laptops to LAUTECH University, Ogbomoso, has in a great way assisted the ICT need of the university in this digital age.
“Moreover, the renovation of the Takie roundabout, in the heart of Ogbomoso land has assisted in mitigating the hardship of motorists plying that axis.
“The Trainning of 40 grassroot football coaches has a lot of positive impact in engaging our hitherto idle youths, such that they would not constitute security to the society,” the statement said.
APC said in view of Dare’s achievements, it believed Oba Oyewumi has indeed rewarded a worthy son and ambassador of Ogbomoso land and Oyo State for his selfless contribution to the town and state.
