The All Progressives Congress in Oyo State has dissociated itself from a publication credited to one of its members, Honorable Olusegun Olaleye, in which he wrote an open letter to President Muhammadu Buhari over some salient issues of national importance.
Hon. Olaleye, a member of the APC representing Ibadan North Constituency ll in the Oyo State House of Assembly, was credited to have sponsored an advertorial in the Sunday Punch edition of May 1, 2016 which was titled; Mr President, Time to Put the APC House in Order.
In a statement issued by its Director of Publicity and Strategy, Olawale Sadare, the APC described the publication as reflecting personal opinion of the writer and his sponsors as it did not have the blessing of the leadership and members of the APC in Oyo State.
“Our attention was drawn to the said publication on the day it was published and our preliminary investigation has revealed that Hon. Olaleye did not act on behalf of the party, the State House of Assembly or his constituents as he might have taken the step to embarrass the State chapter of the party as well as the good people and government of the Pacesetter State.
“The whole content of the publication is not only an affront to the constituted authorities but a misplaced attempt to play to the gallery and score unmerited political point or act a script prepared by a suspected group of enemies within. Therefore, the entire publication stands condemned and we use this opportunity to tender our unreserved apology to President Muhammadu Buhari, the National Executive Committee of our great party and all patriotic Nigerians who desire genuine Change as being championed by the present administration.
“Meanwhile, the general public is hereby assured that thorough investigation would be carried out with a view to ascertaining the real motive of the publication, its real sponsors among other things. The party also uses this opportunity to restate our unequivocal support for the anti-corruption crusade of Mr. President as it is apt that President Buhari is determined to move the country forward.” The statement added.
