The leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ibarapa East State Constituency in Oyo state, have chosen Mr. Kunle Adeyemo to flag the party’s flag in the June 2 State House of Assembly bye-election to fill the seat made vacant as a result of former speaker of the House, Barr. Michael Adeyemo.
Kunle Adeyemo is the younger brother of the late speaker.
According to Oyo Insight, the leadership of the APC in the council area decided to pick Kunle in order to complete his brother’s tenure as well as that of his hometown, Lanlate. Lanlate has 4 wards while Eruwa is said to have 6 wards.
The late Adeyemo died of a cardiac arrest on Friday, April 2. He was 47 years old.
A new speaker, Hon. Olagunju Ojo, took over last week.
The bye-election to fill the late Adeyemo’s seat holds on Saturday, June 2.
The younger Adeyemo will slug it out with Debo Ogundoyin, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Debo is son of late philantropist and industrialist, Chief Adeseun Ogundoyin.
