The Oyo State House of Assembly on Thursday screened and confirmed the 14 nominees sent to it on July 25, 2019 by Governor Seyi Makinde for appointment as commissioners.
The commissioner-designates are four former lawmakers in the state House of Assembly – Hon Kehinde Ayoola (former Speaker), Hon Adeniyi Farinto, Hon Muyiwa Jacob Ojekunle and Hon Funmilayo Orisadeyi (the only female nominee)
Others are: Chief Bayo Ojo,Dr Bashir Abiodun Bello, Prof Oyelowo Oyewo,Prof Dawud Sangodoyin, Bar Olasunkanmi Olaleye and Mr Adeniyi Olabode Adebisi, Mr Raheem Abiodun Abdulraheem,Barr Seun Asamu, Dr Wasiu Olatunbosun and Mr Akinola Ojo.
The Assembly also confirmed the appointment of Dr Nureni Adeniran as Chairman of State Universal Basic Education Board(SUBEB) in Oyo State while Mr Akeem Oladeji and Hon Dayo Ogungbenro were confirmed as full time members of the board.
In his speech, Speaker of the House, Hon Adebo Ogundoyin stated that Governor Seyi Makinde’s strong resolve to transform the state has been reflected in the caliber of people he has considered for appointment into the state executive council.
He described the appointees as technocrats and highly cerebral people who have been or are high flyers in their various fields.
The date of their inauguration is yet to be announced.
