Oyo State House of Assembly has passed the bill upgrading Emmanuel Alayande College of Education to a University of Education, into law.
The bill was passed into law at Wednesday’s plenary after its clause by clause consideration.
Speaking on the development, the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, who presided over the plenary, described the passage of the bill as another milestone in the history of the 9th House of Assembly.
Contributing, the Minority Leader of the Assembly, Hon Asimiyu Alarape, congratulated the lawmakers for the passage of the bill and expressed the appreciation of the people of Oyo town to the state governor, Engr Seyi Makinde, for the executive bill.
Alarape, who said it was a dream come true, added that the agitation had been on for a while.
The Minority Whip, Hon Isiaka Kazeem Tunde, also lauded the governor, adding that the university will enhance the socioeconomic activities in the ancient town and bring quality teachers’ education to the people of Oyo State.
