The Oyo State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal in Oyo sitting in Ibadan, on Tuesday ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) to allow the Governor-elect, Engr. Seyi Makinde, to inspect the materials used in the March 9 governorship election in the state.
Justice Muhammed Sirajo, the Charmian of the three-man panel, gave the order while granting the application brought by Makinde’s counsel, Mr Jamiu Makinde, seeking the order of the tribunal to inspect all the election materials used in the election.
Counsel to the Governor-elect had earlier told the court that the respondents had filed an ex parte application seeking the order of the tribunal to inspect all the election materials used during the governorship election in the state.
He said that the application was brought under section 281(1, 2) of the Electoral Act 2010 as amended.
He explained further that the application was supported by 18 paragraph affidavit and a written address sworn to by one Emmanuel Igu.
Makinde’s victory is being challenged by the All Progressives Congress(APC) in the state and its governorship candidate, Chief Bayo Adelabu.
Other respondents in the case are INEC and the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP).
