The Oyo State Government has described online news media as channels that can not be ignored if government is to better inform and interact with the people.
While addressing members of the online publishers in the state, the Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Mr Toye Arulogun, said that the government would work closely with the online publishers to achieve better interaction with the people.
The commissioner said that the current administration led by Governor Abiola Ajimobi is committed to engaging the various sections of the society in its quest to run an open and transparent government, and so would not leave out the new media which are a veritable channels to speedily reach audiences living within and outside the country.
He urged the publishers to relate with his office for timely and accurate information.
Speaking earlier, Chairman of the group, Mr Yinka Agboola of pmparrotng.com, said the appointment of Arulogun as the spokesman of the government was a round peg in a round hole.
