The management of the Oyo State Health Insurance Agency (OYSHIA) has expressed satisfaction with the rapid growth in awareness about its insurance scheme among residents, and outside the state.
In an interview with Newspeakonline, the Executive Secretary (ES) of the agency, Dr Sola Akande, said the agency was pleased with the rate of growth in 2020 alone which saw enrollment in the scheme grow by over 130 per cent.
Akande said the growth in awareness is bringing more people to the scheme, stressing that more people embrace the scheme once they discover the multiple advantages of health insurance and the added advantage of affordability.
“One of the things we are happy about is the rate at which awareness about the scheme is growing among the populace. It is pleasing to see more people enrol after discovering that the scheme will guarantee medical treatment at very affordable cost. More people are realizing that they can save more money by enrolling on the scheme because it is so cheap to buy basic health insurance for just N8,000 per year. We are happy about that.” Akande said.
He added that more people were also engaging the agency through feedback and enquires on its social media accounts and other channels.
The ES also revealed that OYSHIA has seen a marked improvement in its working relationship with service providers which he said was bringing improvement to the entire service delivery.
Akande, however, revealed that the agency would work harder to surpass the 2020 achievements this year. He said his team would pursue its 2021 goals with vigour towards ensuing that every resident in the state gains access to quality healthcare through affordable health insurance.
