Members of the Oyo State House of Assembly who were sworn in last Wednesday have commenced a three-day legislative training.
The Hon. Michael Adeyemo-led 8th Assembly commenced the training on Monday at MicCom Golf Hotels and Resorts, Ada, Osun State.
According to the Chief press Officer of the Assembly, Mr Lekan Kolade, the training was aimed at equipping the 32 lawmakers in the rudiments and processes of lawmaking for effective performance during their tenure.
The training is being facilitated by permanent secretaries in the state’s civil service and other experts including the former Special Adviser to Governor Ajimobi on Political Affairs, Dr Gbade Ojo.
Topics to be covered include functions of the Legislature, motions and how a bills becomes law and committee system in the Legislature.
Addressing the lawmakers, Speaker of the House, Adeyemo urged all members to take full advantage of the training to be able to discharge their legislative duties effectively.
The speaker applauded the financial commitment of the State Governor, Sen. Abiola Ajimobi and urged all the participants to appreciate the interest of the governor un approving fund for the training by maximizing benefits of the training.
