The Oyo State Health Insurance Agency(OYSHIA) has said its target is to ensure 30,000 vulnerable people across the 33 local government areas in the state have access to basic health insurance.
The Executive Secretary of the agency, Dr. Sola Akande, who disclosed this while speaking on a radio programme, said vulnerable persons including those with disabilities, jobless pregnant women, retirees whose take home every month is less than N5000, are going to be the major beneficiaries.
Akande noted that with what we OYSHIA is doing, both the poor and the rich will be able to have access to some level of care through the insurance scheme.
“OYSHIA is working with Nigeria Union of Pensioners, National Insurance Scheme and revelant agencies of government like the Primary Healthcare Board, Ministry of Women Affairs, both at the local and state government level to have the list of such people for validation,” he said.
The Executive Secretary added that the Federal Government has given the agency good sum of money after fulfilling some certain conditions.
