The Oyo State Health Insurance Agency (OYSHIA) has expanded its services to the First Technical University, Ibadan, and The Polytechnic, Ibadan.
The Executive Secretary of OYSHIA, Dr. Sola Akande, disclosed this over the weekend while featuring on Fresh 105.9FM, Ibadan.
He said the Agency has met with the committee set up at The Polytechnic, Ibadan, adding that they are making progress towards take off of the insurance scheme at the institution.
He said: “In The Polytechnic, Ibadan, we are making progress towards the scheme taking off in the institution.
“If not for ASUU strike, LAUTECH should have commenced by now. We are 80 to 90% done with the enrolment.”
Akande also noted that the agency is almost done with delivering drugs and other consumables to all the Primary Healthcare Centres across the state.
“From next week, we will start giving out identity cards to the various local governments that have been captured. Empaneling into the platform is still ongoing. All the identity cards that have been produced will get to all local the governments before June 1, so that the scheme can commence effectively.
“It is a collaboration, we are doing our part, the primary healthcare centers are doing their part. We are working in synergy and we must make sure everything is on ground before we ask people to start going to centers for assessment.
“The scheme is, submit yourself to the expertise of the doctor. Treatment must be based on recommendation and advise of the physician, not enrollees.
“If you have pain, let the doctor examine you and confirm that it is of necessity to do a particular test,” he said
The Executive Secretary urged enrollees who have not gotten their identity cards and those tgat want to register in th insurance scheme to visit the designated offices of the agency.
“For people that are interested, they can visit any of our offices. The head office is at the Ministry of Establishment and Training at the state secretariat, Ibadan; Room 19, BCOS, Ibadan; our zonal offices in Oyo, Ogbomoso, Saki and Igboora and enquiries can be made in any of the state or general hospitals across the 33 local government,” he said.
