The Executive Secretary, Oyo State Health Insurance Agency (OYSHIA), Dr. Sola Akande, has said that the agency is planning to enroll all pensioners in the state into the health insurance scheme.
Speaking on a radio programme, Akande said that the enrollment process for the pensioners will start on the September 19, 2022, across the state.
He said the agency has subsidised the amount pensioners are going to pay by 50 per cent, adding that those who are earning below N5000 would be enrolled for free.
“We believe that the premium price will continue to crash down as more people come into the scheme and with time we will get to a stage where pensioners will come to the scheme for free,” he said.
Akande said the pensioners’ hospital structure is 90 per cent complete, stressing that when completed, the facility will be registered in order to get capitation.
“The facility will come on board as one of the hospitals on the scheme and it will be a means for the facility to be self-sustaining because the facility will get capitation. Other people in the society will be free to choose that facility and that will earn more money capitation for the facility,” the Executive Secretary said.
