The Executive Secretary, Oyo State Health Insurance Agency (OYSHIA), Dr. Sola Akande, has revealed that the agency has raised the capitation of service providers from 55 per cent to 60 per cent.
He said the capitation was increased in order for the hospitals to provide good and quality service for enrollees.
Akande noted that because of this decision, there are about 25 service providers that are applying to join the scheme.
“The immediate effect is that there are about 25 facilities that are applying to join the scheme. We are working on them, especially in areas that we don’t have service providers,” he said.
The OYSHIA boss further explained that drugs and professional traffic is being reviewed, saying, “things are getting more expensive and the ongoing review is to ensure that service providers are happy with what they are receiving.”
Akande added that any enrollee visiting the hospital will have to pay 10 per cent for drugs and consultation, to “reduce unnecessary visitation to the hospital.”
He encouraged everyone going into politics or candidates trying to secure the tickets of their political parties to enroll in health insurance in order to reduce expenses that will be spent on drugs and treatment in case a health challenge arose.
