Oyo State Health Insurance Agency(OYSHIA) has explained the reason it introduced new innovation to the community-based health insurance.
The Executive Secretary, OYSHIA, Dr Sola Akande, who disclosed this recently, said the new innovation behind the community-based health insurance was to bring insurance to the grassroots.
“At the agency, we decided to repackage our community- based insurance at the community level which has started yielding results.
“We want each community to enroll, gather, mobilise minimum of 2500 lives in their community, and each member of the community will pay N4000 instead of N8000.
“One of the things community-based health insurance will begin to do is promote love, unity, commitment, working together and identification in that community.
“It will also promote security because they will know themselves and be able to identify strange people in that community. it is the leadership of that community that will be able to identify the community members,” he said.
