Pandemonium broke out on Tuesday morning at the entrance of the Osun state Secretariat in Osogbo following a disagreement on a strike order by two factions of the Trade Union Congress (TUC) in the state
A faction of the union and its workers had reported for work against the order of the erstwhile Chairman of the TUC comrade Francis Adetunji.
Some workers alleged to be loyal to him led a number of hoodlums to the scene to unleash terror on the workers.
Journalists at the scene were also attacked with machetes, bottles, stones, rakes, pestles, planks and some other harmful tools.
The hoodlums arrived the scene in the branded vehicle of the state council of the TUC in the company of some workers identified as Bimbo Olowookere, Bimbo Arapasogo and Idowu Ajomole of Adetunji’s faction.
The hoodlums, also attacked Channels TV cameraman, Oloyede Oyegbenle and also carted away his camera and some other tools, before armed policemen intervened and chased them away using tear gas.
The Francis Adetunji faction of the union had yesterday directed civil servants in the state to proceed on three day warning strike starting from today, the directive which the comrade Akinyemi Olatunji faction said has nothing to do with them.
