Paraguay becomes third country to open embassy in Jerusalem

Paraguay has opened its Israeli embassy in Jerusalem, becoming the third country to do so in one week after the United States kick-started the Tel Aviv to Jerusalem relocation.

Paraguayan President Horacio Cartes and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu attended the inauguration ceremony on Monday.

Guatemala had relocated to Jerusalem on Wednesday.

Reports say countries like Czech Republic, Romania and Honduras considering the move.

Paraguay’s move comes a week after more than 60 of Palestinians died in clashes with Israeli forces as they protested against the US in Gaza.

Palestinian leaders see East Jerusalem as the capital of their future state and have said that US President Donald Trump’s move disqualifies the US as a peace mediator.
