Confusion broke out at Umuchoko community in Ngor Okpala council Area of Imo state following the alleged murder of Calista Nzubechukwu Uzoigwe by a pastor and his daughter over the theft a phone battery.
It was reported by Daily Sun that the cleric popularly known as ‘Esom Jehovah’ and the presiding pastor of the Assemblies of God Church, Umuohiagu III, Umuanyamele village, was engaged in a quarrel with the deceased before his daughter known as “The Pee” stabbed the young woman to death.
An eyewitness who spoke under condition of anonymity said, Calista, who was from Okpanku community in Aninri area of Enugu state, accused the pastor’s daughter of stealing her battery and charger.
This made the man of God react angrily. He reportedly beat up the deceased before his daughter went to take a kitchen knife to stab her to death.
Confirming the incident, Umuchoko Umuohiagu, a co-tenant to the pastor and medical doctor in charge of Graceland Hospital, said that Callista died immediately adding that she was rushed to Holy Rosary Hospital, Emekuku in Owerri North LGA of the state where she was confirmed dead and deposited in the hospital morgue.
The medical doctor who revealed that the deceased was undergoing training in his clinic said that he was not at the scene when the tragic incident happened. However, he recalled that he met the deceased in a pool of her blood about 2:30 pm that fateful day on return to the hospital following a call from other nurses who witnessed the tragedy.
