Four members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Working Committee (NWC) have returned the sum of N122.4 million paid into their accounts by the opposition party.
There had been media reports that the PDP National Chairman, Sen Iyorchia Ayu, allegedly paid over N100 million to the NWC members after the party’s primaries.
The money was said to be part of the over N10 billion realised by the party from the fees paid for expression of interest and nomination forms by aspirants.
The NWC members who returned the money include National Vice Chairman (South West) Olasoji Adagunodo; Deputy National Chairman (South), Taofeek Arapaja; National Vice Chairman (South),Dan Orbih; and National Women Leader, Prof. Stella Affah-Attoe.
While Arapaja returned N36 million, Adagunodo, Orbih and Effah-Attoe returned N28.8 million each.
In their separate letters, the NWC members gave reasons for returning the money.
