The Deputy governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo state, Engr. Raufu Aderemi Olaniyan lamented over the weekend that the Oke Ogun zone in the state was neglected for almost eight years of the All Progressives Congress (APC) administration, with its roads in terrible shape.
He said the state of the Ibadan-Iseyin road and the Iseyin-Saki road, were examples of the dozens of roads neglected in the region.
Olaniyan who was the pioneer General Manager of the Oyo State Road maintenance agency,(OYSROMA) made this remark Saturday in Saki, where he was a special guest of honour at an event marking Saki Day celebrations.
He also lamented that the present government also neglected the zone’s potentials in agriculture.
Olaniyan, a retired Permanent Secretary and a fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, however assured that a PDP government to be headed by Engr. Seyi Makinde, will restore the pride of Oke Ogun by ensuring that the infastructural deficit the region has suffered for so long is corrected.
Speaking further he stressed that Makinde’s administration commencing from May 29, 2019, will pursue policies that will enable Oke Ogun harness its full potentials while treating the collapsed roads as priority.
Olaniyan urged the people not to be swayed by the “sweet words” of the ruling party saying “they have been there for almost eight years, we have seen their best and their best was not good enough for Oke Ogun and Oyo State, and their best was not fair to the people of Oke Ogun.”
The highlight of the event, was a donation of N2.5million on behalf of Makinde, the PDP governorship candidate and himself, towards the development of Saki.
