As a former council chairman, I have been an advocate of grassroots development which can only be achieved through effective local government administration and with this LCDAs, the government will be able to penetrate the grassroots. So, Governor Ajimobi should be commended for the decision.”
Those were the words of the Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Information National Orientation, Ethics and Value, Hon Segun Odebunmi, commending Oyo State Governor, Abiola Ajimobi, for approving the creation of 35 Local Council Development Areas (LCDA) in the state
According to Odebunmi, a PDP lawmaker representing Surulere/Ogo Oluwa Federal Constituency in the House of Assembly, the new LCDAs would boost grassroots development and give the people sense of belonging
The lawmaker who spoke at the presentation of gift and trophies to winners of a football competition in his honour at Iresaadu Baptist Primary school, Ogbomoso area at the weekend, urged people to support the government to make the new LCDAs function effectively.
He said:
“The LCDAs will help our people and the development of communities at the grassroots as well as create more employment opportunities for our people. So, we should support it and make it work.”
Hon Odebunmi, commenting on the primary schools football competition he sponsored in Surulere Local Government, said the aim was to promote sports at the grassroots and give the kids exposure required to advance their careers in sports
According to him, “we have a lot of talents in the rural areas”.
