The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirant in Oyo State, Engineer Seyi Makinde on Monday said that the outcome of last Saturday’s Ibarapa East State Constituency bye election showed that the people of the state are tired of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Makinde said this in a statement issued by his campaign organisation and signed by Prince Dotun Oyelade.
According to Makinde, the Ibarapa East bye election “speaks volume about the frustration of our people and the lesson is very clear that the masses must never be taken for granted again and have rejected the ruling party APC in Oyo state.”
He said the result was “a sign of liberation from shackles of poverty, impunity, brigandage and lawlessness”.
He said his party “would have won by a wider margin in the Ibarapa house of Assembly election were it not for the alleged unwarranted show of naked force which Governor Abiola Ajimobi brought into the peaceful community on the eve of the election which nearly marred the peaceful conduct of election and deterred some electorates to vote therefor dedicated the victory to the people of the area who stand for their right despite intimidation.”
Makinde added that the victory of the PDP will be replicated in next year’s general election in a more emphatic manner to bring genuine change that the people of the state are clamouring for in the state.
Congratulating the leadership of the party led by High Chief Rashidi Ladoja and other party faithful that worked tirelessly for the victory of Peoples Democratic Party Candidate, Hon Adebo Ogundoyin in the last Saturday house of assembly election, the PDP governorship aspirant also congratulated a former governor of the state, Otunba Christopher Adebayo Alao-Akala on his 68th birthday and wish him very many happy returns.
