Ms Idia Babalola, a former Special Adviser to Osun State Governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, was almost lynched on Monday at the burial of late Senator Isiaka Adeleke.
Crisis had erupted on Sunday after the news of the death of the former Osun State governor broke. His supporters suspected foul play and his brother, Deji, ordered an autopsy, leading to the burial’s postponement till today.
The burial however became riotous when sympathisers at the event insisted that Babalola must leave the venue, at Ede, Osun State.
In the skirmishes that followed, angry protesters collapsed the canopy under which Ondo State governor, Amosun, Ondo State governor, Rotimi Akeredolu and Babalola were seated.
When pleas from dignitaries at the event, including Akeredolu, failed to persuade the angry crowd, Amosun had to join some other dignitaries in personally shielding the lady and leading her out of the premises.
