George Weah has been sworn in as President of Liberia. The swearing in ceremony was held at the Samuel Kanyon Doe stadium near the country’s capital, Monrovia on Monday.
He replaces Africa’s first elected female president, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, who is stepping down after two terms.
This is the first democratic transfer of power in the West African state in more than 70 years.
Heads of states and government representatives from Ghana, Mali, Nigeria and Togo attended along with friends and former colleagues in football.
