Former Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on National Assembly(House of Representatives), Abdulrahman Sumaila, has described the move by some governors elected on the platform of All Progressives Congress(APC) to make former President Goodluck Jonathan the party’s presidential candidate as a major disservice capable of ruining the APC’s chance in 2023.
Speaking with newsmen in Kano, on Wednesday, Sumaila insisted that Jonathan has no business in Aso Rock after being President for six years.
He maintained that APC has better candidates in the South.
The APC chieftain said that Vice President Yemi Osinbajo; Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi; or Minister of State for Education, Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba would brighten the chances of the part in the 2023 presidential election.
“I don’t think those pushing for Jonathan to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari under our great party mean well for APC. Yes, Jonathan is a reformed democrat who deserves our commendation, but he had played his role under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).”
The former three-term member of the House of Representatives declared that those pushing for Jonathan to become APC’s candidate are not only known enemies ofthe party, but plotting the automatic failure of the party.
