The Police Service Commission on Friday approved the retirement Mbu Joseph Mbu and 20 other Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIG) across the country.
Mbu became infamous for his role at the peak of the political crisis between the then President Goodluck Jonathan and Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State in 2014. He was then the Commissioner of Police in the state.
The 21 AIGs were senior to the Acting Inspector General, Ibrahim Idris.
theirbtetirementbwas contained in a statement by the commission and signed by its Head, Press and Public Relations, Ikechukwu Ani, on Friday.
The affected AIGs include, Bala Hassan, Yahaya Ardo; Irmiya Yarima; Danladi Mshebwala; Tambari Mohammed ; Bala Magaji Nasarawa; MUsa Abdulsalam; Adisa Bolanta and Mohammed Gana.
Also affected by the retrenchment exercise were Umaru Manko; Lawal Tanko; Olufemi Adenike; Johnson Ogunsakin; Adenrele Shinaba; James Caulcrick; Olufemi Ogunbayode; Edgar Nanakumo; Kalafite Adeyemi; Patrick Dokumor and Sabo Ringim.
The Chairman of the Commission, Mike Okiro “congratulated the affected officers for their meritorious service to the nation and
wished them well in their new endeavours.”
