A major disaster may have been averted in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital following the discovery of a number of improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in an unnamed area in the city.
The devices were reportedly found at a public function during a search.
Oluseun Awodele, the Commander Explosives Ordinance Disposal said that the explosives contained detonator cords, high dynamite batteries, detonator with ammonium nitrate, underlining that if the explosives were well combined and constructed, it would give high IED.
The police cautioned members of the public to be more security conscious and beware of materials left carelessly in public places to avert any form of disaster.
