The Nigerian Police Force, on Friday said it has commenced an investigation to ascertain the authenticity of a video on Twitter, showing some persons in police uniforms with a POS machine demanding ATM card from a member of the public.
A twitter user, @MarshallKacy, had posted a video with the caption: ” A Police officer seen with POS, asking a passenger to bring his ATM Card @PoliceNG @NGRPresident @hand2ome.”
Responding to the post, the Police stated that the Inspector General of Police(IGP) condemned all acts of corruption and is committed to ensuring that any officer found guilty faces the wrath of the law.
“The @policeNG has commenced investigations to unravel the authenticity of the video, location of incident and identity of persons captured in the viral video where some persons in Police uniform were captured, allegedly with POS machine and demanding ATM card from a member of the public.
“Members of the public with relevant information that could assist Police investigators are enjoined to kindly DM @policeNG or furnish same via any of our confidential channels e.g press for [email protected]
“The IGP condemns all acts of corruption by Public Servants, particularly Police officers and is committed to bringing to book any officer found wanting in this regard,” the statement said.
