Popular evangelist, Rev. Billy Graham, has died at the age of 99. The charismatic North Carolina pastor held evangelizing crusades around the United States and the world.
Graham preached to an estimated 215 million people in more than 185 countries around the world.
The pastor, who has served as counselor or minister to a number of US presidents, also reached millions of people across the globe via television, radio, and the internet.
He has written about 20 books among which is his 1997 memoir,” Just as I Am,” a New York Times bestseller.
Graham battled with a number of illnesses in his last years, including prostate cancer, hydrocephalus (a buildup of fluid in the brain) and symptoms of Parkinson’s disease.
US President Donald Trump joined his predecessors and other religious and political leaders across the world to pay tribute.
Trump, on Twitter, wrote: “The GREAT Billy Graham is dead. There was nobody like him! He will be missed by Christians and all religions. A very special man”.
